Transportation Security Cuts Should Be Restored

(WASHINGTON) – Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, and other Democratic members of the Committee, sent a letter to the Chairmen and Ranking Members of the House Appropriations Committee and its Homeland Security Subcommittee outlining concerns over, and requesting reinstatement of, recent cuts to the Transportation Security Grant Program (TSGP), a federal homeland security grant program administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The FY2011 TSGP was recently cut by $50 million (20 percent) below the enacted level for FY 2010.
