Homeland Leaders Question President on New Cyber Threat Integration Center
(WASHINGTON) – Today, the Chairmen and Ranking Members of the House Committee on Homeland Security and Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee sent a letter to President Obama inquiring about the new proposal to establish a new cyber information sharing hub, the Cyber Threat Intelligence Integration Center (CTIIC), and its relationship with the Department of Homeland Security's 24/7 cyber situational awareness center, the National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center (NCCIC), which was codified in law in December 2014. Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement on the letter:
"Information sharing is critical to bolstering our nation's cybersecurity posture. As this new cyber center is rolled out, it is important that there be clarity with respect to how it will interface with DHS' cyber center, the NCCIC. We have a keen interest in seeing the NCCIC succeed, ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of Federal cybersecurity efforts, and minimizing duplication to get the best results for our money."
