Ranking Member Thompson Lauds Failure of Extreme Republican “Border” Bill
(WASHINGTON) – Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement on H.R. 3602, the extreme MAGA Republican failure-by-design “border” bill, failing in the House today:
“I am glad the House today rejected the Republicans’ extreme border bill that was not only cruel and inhumane, but would not secure the border. Not only did their bill fail, it received fewer votes than their extreme border bill did last year, which the Senate rightfully refused to consider. MAGA Republicans in the House have nothing to show for their extreme anti-immigrant policies. They are so dysfunctional, they can’t even pass their own bills. It’s clear that Republicans and Democrats need to come together on a bipartisan solution. Otherwise, Republicans will continue to show the American people they only want chaos to have a political wedge issue in an election year.”
