Ranking Member Thompson Statement on ICE Killing a Mother and U.S. Citizen
(WASHINGTON) – Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, released the below statement on Trump’s ICE killing a mother and U.S. citizen in Minneapolis today:
“A masked ICE agent killing a mother and U.S. citizen today in Minneapolis today shows that no one is safe under the Trump Administration — not even Americans. Without Trump’s lawless and out-of-control invasion of our communities, she would still be alive.
“Now is the time for a thorough investigation, and those responsible must face justice. Congressional Republicans should not turn a blind eye to this tragedy. Congress must fulfill its oversight responsibility to fully investigate this matter.
“Lastly, the public should not believe every social media post and Fox News soundbite from DHS political talking heads – including Secretary Noem – until the unadulterated facts come out. Too often DHS lies directly to the American people only to later have to quietly retract their claims.”
