Ranking Member Thompson Statement on Supreme Court Decision Murthy v. Missouri
(WASHINGTON) – Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, released the below statement on the U.S Supreme Court decision, Murthy v. Missouri:
“Today’s Supreme Court ruling in Murthy v. Missouri confirms what we have already known— Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) officials did not censor anyone’s speech. Instead, as Justice Barrett explained, ‘The evidence indicates that the platforms had independent incentives to moderate content and often exercised their own judgment.’ With cyber attacks impacting our nation every day, Congressional support for CISA and its critical mission is essential for our national security. I urge my Republican colleagues to drop their partisan attacks on CISA and instead focus on securing our elections and defending our homeland.”
