Ranking Member Thompson Statement on Trump’s Unconstitutional Election Takeover Executive Order
(WASHINGTON) – Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, released the below statement on President Trump’s latest unconstitutional election takeover Executive Order:
"Once again, the President is attempting to act beyond his powers and seize control of our elections. Now he is attempting to weaponize the United States Postal Service against the voters. We will not stand for it.
“Election rights advocates and Secretaries of State challenged the President's unconstitutional Executive Order last year and won. They will win again.
“In the meantime, I will work with my colleagues in Congress to prevent the President from interfering in states' ability to administer elections and to protect the vote of every American."
