Thompson & Richmond Statement on Jeanette Manfra Departing CISA
(WASHINGTON) – Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, and Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-LA), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, & Innovation, released the following statement on news that Jeanette Manfra is leaving the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA):
“Jeanette Manfra led CISA’s Cybersecurity Division at a pivotal time. In early 2017, Ms. Manfra took on the enormous challenge of assessing how DHS could best partner with State and local election officials to improve the delivery of cybersecurity services to protect election infrastructure. She has played an important role in advancing the cybersecurity posture of Federal networks and has helped build stronger, more productive relationships with owners and operators of critical infrastructure to ensure that the Federal government and private sector work together closely to make the cyber ecosystem more secure. And ultimately, she served as a steady hand through CISA’s transition to become an operational component, staying above the political fray to work with Members on both sides of the aisle to ensure CISA will be well-positioned to carry out its critical cybersecurity mission as cyber threats continue to evolve. We thank her for her 12 years of service to the Department of Homeland Security.”
