Thompson on DNI Intelligence Review

(WASHINGTON) – Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement regarding news that the Intelligence Community Inspectors General Forum will conduct an intelligence review of the Boston Marathon Bombings:

I commend the Director of National Intelligence for taking the bold step of ordering this review. The Inspector General of Intelligence Community, working together with the Inspectors General of the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice, should be able to provide the American people with a solid account of how information about Tamerlan Tsarnaev was handled prior to the Boston Marathon bombings and whether there are any remnants of pre-9/11 information stove-piping that must be dismantled. Once this much needed review is complete, we will be better able to carry out our oversight responsibilities and implement any needed policy changes to ensure information is shared properly to prevent other tragedies.
