Thompson Statement on the Fifth Anniversary of the Boston Marathon Bombings
(WASHINGTON) – Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, released the below statement on the fifth anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings:
“Today marks five years since we faced terror on our shores at the Boston Marathon. Let this anniversary be a day to honor the lives of the victims as we keep their families in our prayers. The survivors of that horrific day continue to serve as beacons of hope and resilience for the entire nation. As we remember this terrible tragedy, we thank the first responders who heroically put their lives at risk every day to keep us safe. As a nation, we must continue to stay vigilant in the face of terror and hate – and we must continue to work together to stop violent extremism, no matter the source.”
