Dems Continue Investigation into DHS Purchase of 10 Luxury Jets from Political Donor

“This abuse and misuse of taxpayer funds at the highest levels of the Trump administration is an outrageous breach of trust”

(WASHINGTON) – Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, sent a demand letter to Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin continuing the Committee’s investigation into the Department’s purchase under Kristi Noem of 10 luxury jets from Daedalus Aviation. The head of Daedalus was one of Noem’s political donors.

Since the start of the Committee’s investigation, additional reporting has made clear that DHS’s aircraft purchases and related aviation contracts were wasteful, irregular, and potentially corrupt. Currently, only one of the jets is in use – and not by DHS. DHS has yet to respond to committee requests for relevant documents – including contracts, communications, and plans.

Today, Ranking Member Thompson also sent a demand letter to Daedalus Aviation head William Walters for all relevant documents on the sale.
