Congressmen Shri Thanedar, Bennie G. Thompson Introduce DHS Acquisition Documentation Integrity Act
Washington, D.C. – This week, Congressman Shri Thanedar (D-MI-13) and Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS-02), Ranking Member of the House Homeland Security Committee, introduced H.R.9882, the DHS Acquisition Documentation Integrity Act, legislation that creates objective procedures for how the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) should use public funds to carry out its responsibilities to protect our homeland.
“The Department of Homeland Security’s duties to protect the American people are some of our country’s most serious,” said Congressman Shri Thanedar. “In order to strengthen the American people’s confidence in this work, our federal agencies must follow transparent processes when they spend taxpayer dollars. It’s why I introduced the DHS Acquisition Documentation Integrity Act, legislation that requires DHS to institute and follow processes that prioritize solutions that best address our national security needs, and to introduce accountability measures when the agency fails to do so. I am grateful to Homeland Security Committee Ranking Member Bennie G. Thompson for joining this legislation as an original cosponsor, and I look forward to continuing our work together on the Committee.”
