FRIDAY: Democrats to Hold Forum in Houston on Tragic Killing of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo by ICE

(WASHINGTON) – This Friday, July 24th, Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-NY), Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, and Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-TX) will host an oversight forum in Houston, Texas on Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) use of force and abuse of power after the tragic killing of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo by ICE on July 7th in Houston. At the forum, entitled “Seeking Justice: Oversight of ICE’s Use of Force in the Death of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo,” Members of Congress will hear from the family of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare, faith leaders, and community advocates. A press conference will follow the forum.
