TODAY @ 2:30PM: Hearing on Policy Solutions to Ransomware Attacks
(WASHINGTON) – Today at 2:30pm, the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, & Innovation, chaired by Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY), will hold a virtual hearing on responding to ransomware attacks and exploring policy solutions.
This hearing will be an opportunity for Members to explore emerging trends in ransomware attacks and how the government and private sector are working together to improve network defenses. A spate of high-profile ransomware attacks against state and local government IT systems in recent years underscores the need for there to be dedicated grant funding for cybersecurity preparedness. These attacks are a national security threat that require a strong response from the federal government.
The hearing will also provide an opportunity to evaluate the recommendations made by the Ransomware Task Force report released last week which includes 48 recommendations directed at Federal agencies, State and local governments, private sector entities, and the international community to develop a comprehensive approach to confronting ransomware.
This virtual hearing will be streamed live on YouTube and on our website.
