Thompson, Swalwell Release Statement on the Biden Administration Releasing the First Cybersecurity Posture of the United States Report
(WASHINGTON) – Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, and Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), Ranking Member of the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Protection subcommittee, released the below statement on the Office of the National Cyber Director (ONCD) releasing its first Report on the Cybersecurity Posture of the United States:
“A major reason for Congress establishing the Office of the National Cyber Director was to ensure greater coordination of cybersecurity efforts across the Federal Government. With the release of the first Report on the Cybersecurity Posture of the United States and the updated National Cybersecurity Strategy Implementation Plan, we are seeing how this greater coordination is resulting in better cybersecurity policy.
“By continuing to update the National Cybersecurity Strategy Implementation Plan, we can ensure that the broader strategy produces tangible benefits, and we applaud Director Coker’s commitment to ensuring continuity in the Federal government’s strategic approach to cybersecurity policy while developing initiatives that reflect the evolving threat landscape. We look forward to continuing to partner with ONCD, CISA, and other Federal agencies to ensure they have adequate authorities and resources to meet the Biden Administration’s ambitious cybersecurity goals.”
